Call for Papers
Gateways journal is pleased to announce our new themed volume, 'Asset-based community development and community-based research: Compatible agents in equitable and sustainable change?'. Contributors are encouraged to critically and creatively explore the interactions between asset-based and relationship-centred community development approaches and academic research collaborations. A special invitation has been extended to practitioners, leaders, activists and others to submit their own contributions. A supportive process will be followed, helmed by our guest editors and the Gateways Editorial Committee. Publication is planned for late 2023.
Gateways journal is pleased to announce that from now on, at the start of each year, we will be publicly acknowledging our peer reviewers from the previous year. Our first list, the reviewers from 2022, is now available on the journal website, under the 'About' tab. We are incredibly grateful for the important contributions of this diverse, global cohort.

Due date for Abstracts now extended to 6 December 2021
Gateways journal is pleased to announce our new themed volume for 2022, 'Urban youth: Engaging young people and their futures in African cities'. Submissions are encouraged to explore collaborations with those beyond the academy, as well as to feature experimental and critical methodological aproaches and a variety of media, such as video, sound and mapping. A supported approach will open up the writing process to collective thought and encouragement, helmed by our guest editors from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Publication is planned for late 2022.
Gateways journal is pleased to announce a themed volume, 'Power in engaged scholarship'. As part of Gateways' ongoing efforts to support a diversity of knowledges and experience reaching publication, this volume will involve sustained engagement with and among authors, as well as an online colloquium in early 2021 with our guest editors at Clark University, Worcester, MA, USA. Publication is planned for late 2021.
We warmly invite you to our latest volume, which includes a special themed section on knowledge democracy. Individually and collectively, these articles demonstrate the strength and resilience of university-community engagement. We are also very pleased to publish our first translated articles, one in French and another in Spanish.
