Free vibration of laminated composite plates with piezoelectric layers under cylindrical bending

Abstract

This paper presents an analytical solution for free vibration response of orthotropic laminated plate with piezoelectric layers based on a new procedure that is m simpler than those presented by Pagano and Fan. In the analysis, the 3-D piezoelectric theory is employed to develop a new concise formula for composite laminates. The natural frequencies and the corresponding mode distributions have been computed for three aspects of thickness/span of a five-layer piezoelectric laminated plate with simply supported and grounded boundaries under cylindrical bending.
