Abstract:
This paper presents a dynamic output feedback
control approach to active control of civil
engineering structures. The design is based on
sliding mode control, pole placement of the
closed-loop eigenvalues, and linear functional
observers for regeneration of the equivalent
control and the sliding function from output
measurements. A five-storey model used for
testing the proposed control scheme is described.
Simulation results demonstrate its validity.
Future work on structural control issues using the
approach is outlined.
