dc.description.abstract In this paper, we argue that information management and knowledge management share important characteristics and thus face similar challenges. Based on a discussion of information problems observed in a large and technically well-equipped company, we suggest that information management should learn from recent trends in knowledge management. In particular, we discuss how appropriate support of communities of practice could help overcome some of the problems observed. en_US
