Abstract:
A fauna of 200 conodonts, assigned to seven species, was recovered from autochthonous and allochthonous
limestones in the Haedon Formation, southwest of Woolom in, NE New South Wales. The fauna includes
Ansella jemtlandica (LOFGREN),Oistodus lanceolatus PANDER, and Periodon aculeatus HADDING,indicating
an age range of late Arenig to early Llanvirn, and represents the oldest Ordovician assemblage known from
the southern New England Fold Belt. The fauna is similar to others reported from the Lachlan Fold Belt
of central New South Wales. Several fused clusters of A. jemtlandica include three different elements in
life position.
