An examination of the limitations of reconciliation as a framework for Aboriginal social policy development

Abstract

This paper will reflect upon the role as defined by the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation of the Reconciliation Movement and the Howard Government's understanding and invoking of reconciliation as social policy. This will be examined in light of recent developments in Aboriginal Affairs, the role of the media in reporting such events and how the academy can engage in these debates.
