Abstract:
This paper aims to present the design aspects of electrical motors with soft magnetic
composite (SMC) core. Combined classical and modem analysis procedures are proposed for
developing SMC motors. A permanent magnet claw pole motor using SMC material as the
stator core was firstly designed by the equivalent magnetic circuit method. Three dimensional
finite element magnetic field analysis was conducted to refine the design and
calculate some key parameters. The design and analysis method was validated by the
experimental results on the prototype.
