Abstract:
Even under one-dimensional (1D) alternating or 2D rotating magnetic excitation, a magnetic material shows 3D magnetic property
due to the rotation of magnetic domains. Only when the 3D properties are properly considered the understanding and modelling of the
magnetisation process can be complete. This paper summarises our work about the investigation on the magnetic properties of soft
magnetic composite (SMC) material under 3D vector magnetisations by using a 3D magnetic property tester. The core loss models under
3D flux density vectors are analysed and applied to predict the core losses of a permanent magnet claw pole/transverse flux motor with
SMC core.
