Abstract:
The hardening of concrete as well as other materials based on calcium silicates is accelerated by the
use of saturated stearn under pressure in an autoclave. The principal strength-producing phase in autoclaved
calcium silicate based materials is l.1nm tobermorite (tobermorite). Due to tobermorite's significance, there is
great interest in optimising the conversion of tobermorite from C-S-H. This article provides an updated and
integrated overview of the current understanding of factors influencing the phase developments pertaining to
hydrothermally cured cement-based systems.
