| dc.description.abstract | For IP networks to become a service oriented architecture, it is crucial to provision a network architecture that is capable of differentiating and supporting quality of services (QoS) to applications. In this paper we propose a new end-to-end QoS framework, called End-Diff, that has a number of desirable properties. The new architecture has the scalability property of DiffServ, pioneers a novel path congestion control, allocates bandwidth fairly among flows and aggregates, and is capable of negotiating QoS paths among domains through BGP QoS extension. The new architecture makes use of a simple control plane of a router and does not require any sophisticated PHB scheduling in its forwarding plane. Via simulation, we demonstrate that End-Diff QoS architecture performs excellently in terms of scalability, overhead, route selection policy, fairness, packet delay and jitter. | en_US |
