dc.description.abstract 小额信贷项目的服务宗旨是解除贫困、鼓励创业和解决就业。 The purpose of microcredit is supposed to alleviate poverty, stimulate new business and generate employment opportunities. Shaanxi, as a province with large population of poor, has started to trial microcredit programs since 1993 and extensively carried out different types of microcredit schemes since 2006. The research on microcredit is now prosperous, however, that of Shaanxi Province is as limited as it is rare, and the study on the programs of different ownerships is even harder to find. Based on the data collected from one-year field work and two-year return visits, the thesis studies the sustainability, outreach, social impact and women’s empowerment of the microcredit programs of the non-government microcredit organization, state-owned financial institution and private microcredit provider in Shaanxi Province, finds out the problems and gives suggestions regarding the sound development of microcredit programs in the Province. The study concludes that non-government microcredit programs maintain relatively low sustainability, and their outreach and social impact is lower than the state-owned programs but much higher that the private ones; the state-owned programs are the lowest in term of sustainability, but the highest in outreach and social impacts; the private microcredit programs are among the highest in the sustainability but the lowest in outreach and social impacts and that this kind of loan providers do not provide the real microcredit or target the poor.
