Abstract:
This paper examines issues of numerical error pertaining to fluid structure coupling, as applied to
vibration control by the use of Liquid Column Vibration Absorbers (LCVAs). These issues are
highlighted and source of error is further examined by application to a specific example. The paper
will finally demonstrate the effectiveness of the method by undertaking a study on the vibration
control of the 5 storey benchmark model. In summary, the method highlighted will demonstrate the
potential of the coupling adopted when applied to structural vibration control using LCVAs.
