dc.description.abstract This seminar was a public lecture hosted by The Cosmopolitan Civil Societies Research Centre presented by Jeffrey Reitz, visiting Professor of Sociology R.F. Harney Professor of Ethnic, Immigration and Pluralism Studies Centre for International Studies from the University of Toronto, Canada. Professor Reitz is the author of numerous publications and his most recent book is “Host Societies and the Reception of Immigrants. San Diego, CA: Center for Comparative Immigration Research, University of California, 2003. Professor Jeffrey Reitz visited Australia in 2008 to do research on the employment integration of the children of immigrants for comparison with Canada and the United States. This seminar tackles the social, cultural and political integration of immigrants into Canada since the 1970’s with a particular focus on the religious minorities that have been created by immigration from non-European sources, specifically focusing on Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and Sikhs. Similar patterns of migration and integration have been documented in Australia during this time period. en_AU
