| dc.description.abstract | This paper aims to compare different location management techniques and their suitability for adaptation in the next generation wireless IP networks. It is found that in a macro-mobility environment, the pointer forwarding scheme would be the best alternative for managing mobility. Its performance is particularly promising in a scenario where a more frequent mobility pattern is to be expected. By contrast, for micro-mobility scenarios, the local anchoring scheme seems to give the most satisfactory overall performances.
