Call for Papers
Cosmopolitan Civil Societies Journal is calling for papers for a Special Issue on Conflict and Cosmopolitanism to be published as Vol. 6, no.3 at the end of 2014.
This year marks one hundred years since the start of what was called at the time ‘the war to end all wars’. It marks the two hundred and twenty sixth year since the beginning of the war to invade Australia, a conflict which continued long after the ‘peace’ at the end of the ‘war to end all wars’. Conflicts – and invasions – have continued, raising questions of imperialism and anti-imperialism, memorialisation and commemoration, the effects of war on women, massacre and genocide, frontiers and borders, nationalism and socialism, and disruption to communities. Addressing these and other themes, the key question that the issue will address is “What happens to cosmopolitanism when we are told we are either with us or against us?”
Papers of between 4,000 and 8,000 words should be submitted by 31 August 2014 to https://epress.lib.uts.edu.au/journals/index.php/mcs .
